A former 14th Century coaching inn near the London to Cambridge Roman Road, the Black Lion has been traced as far back as 1397 and is believed to stand on the site of the old Great Hall, with beams from the Hall used in the construction of the Inn.
The pond outside was once used by the coach horses for drinking water and, when the wall between the Public and Lounge Bars was removed, gold coins were discovered.
Today, Maria Hockley and her team ensure you a warm welcome, great food and good beers in their village pub. Roaring fires keep you warm in the winter and our lovely garden is perfect for those hot summer evenings.
