Coal Exchange

A pub serving food with WiFi and a garden in Emsworth.

Peter and Dawn welcome you to their traditional pub in the heart of Emsworth adjacent to the public car park and close to the harbour. All the staff pride themselves on our good quality, award winning Real Ales and Homemade Food. We are recognised by CAMRA in their Good Beer Guide. The pub has a warm cosy atmosphere helped by our real log fires in the winter. Our sheltered beer garden is a sun trap in the summer that has plenty of seating to drink or dine 'Alfresco'.

Butcombe Rare Breed 3.8 Butcombe Brewing Co.

Rare Breed is the result of Adam Henson’s dedication to sustainable farming and a passion for characterful, artisinal beer.

Tasting Notes: Using the finest Maris Otter malting barley and aromatic Fuggles hops, delicious, fruity Cascade & Amarillo hops and of course, purest Mendip Spring Water. Rare Breed is a distinctive, clean tasting pale ale with a smooth, citrus twist. A bold stand-out beer that’s one of a kind.

Hophead 3.4 Dark Star Brewing Co.

An extremely clean-drinking pale golden ale with a strong floral aroma and elderflower notes from the Cascade hops. This beer is full-bodied and full-flavoured yet gentle enough to make it a favourite session beer.

Tasting Notes:

HSB 4.8 Fuller's Brewery

A smooth, balanced English bitter

Tasting Notes: Brewed with the finest malt and hops, HSB imparts the rich, soft-fruit flavours of traditional Dundee cake. It’s a tawny, russet coloured beer, with malt and raisin on the nose – and a gentle sweetness that lingers long into the silky smooth finish.

London Pride 4.1 Fuller's Brewery

In recent years its popularity has grown to the extent that it is now Britain’s leading premium ale: a welcome fixture in many pubs and off licences around the country, and now winning new friends abroad.

Tasting Notes: Rich, smooth and elegant on the palate, it draws to a clean, satisfying finish with beautifully balanced bitterness.

Seafarers 3.6 Fuller's Brewery

Light refreshing English bitter

Tasting Notes: Faintly fruity on the nose, this light amber beer sails a steady course through well-developed malt character towards a satisfying, hoppy finish. The Gales yeast brings out soft fruit flavours, while the hops impart a zesty, spicy quality to the brew.
