Originally known as the Bay Horse, the inn provided a service for travellers crossing the treacherous sands of Morecambe Bay by coach and horses. In the mid 1800’s the railway reached Grange and road improvements followed. Visitors started to arrive, trade increased and the population grew. Grange became a smart Edwardian resort and probably to reflect these changes, the inn became known as the Commercial Hotel. Renamed again to give it a more “modern” touch, it became known as the Commodore Inn, or “the Comm” as it is known locally.
