Fighting Cocks

A pub serving food in Fordingbridge.

Tim & Kay Eyre and staff welcome drinkers and diners to a traditional Forest pub where ‘homemade’ means made on the premises.

Tim, the landlord, originally trained as a master butcher and now uses these skills in the kitchen. He personally cuts all our steaks and makes all our 1/2lb steakburgers and sausages on the premises.

We only use local New Forest venison, pheasant, rabbit, etc., in our seasonal game dishes which are prepared by the landlord and his team of chefs.

Tasting Notes:

Hobgoblin - Ruby Beer 4.5 Wychwood Brewery

Traditional Ruby Beer. Hobgoblin is a blend of smooth rich flavours from chocolate and crystal malts, combined with a refreshing bitterness from English Fuggles hops and a dash of citrus aroma from Styrian Goldings.

Tasting Notes:

Spitfire Amber 4.2 Shepherd Neame

The beer is named after the legendary Spitfire aeroplane designed by RJ Mitchell. The versatility of the aircraft and the courage of its pilots were essential to victory and were a key symbol of the spirit of that time.

Tasting Notes: An infusion of three Kentish hops adorns this beautifully balanced, blood-orange tinted British bitter with an acutely aromatic allure. Hints of marmalade, red grapes and pepper are thrust from a springboard of warm, mellow malts. The floating fruity finish signs off with a smidgen of spice and raspberry.
