Ship

A pub serving food in Croydon.

The Ship pub in Croydon has long been known as the only real alternative pub in the area. Nowadays it's a retreat from the usual trendy, fluorescent lit, sticky-floored, chav-infested bars that you'd normally find in Croydon, The Ship is what you'd call an "alternative" pub, but the nights range from swing through to 80s to punk to classic rock to good, honest heavy metal. Not to mention the regular live music nights and Battle of the Bands competitions.

Banks Bitter 3.8 Banks's Brewery

Crafted with the finest ingredients to deliver a really easy drinking beer. Deep gold in colour; it comes with malty, hoppy flavours and a clean finish with fruity overtones

Tasting Notes: Deep gold in colour, Banks’s Amber resonates with tangy and refreshing flavours that only Fuggles and Goldings – the classic twin masterpieces of the English Hop Grower’s art can deliver. A really easy drinking beer with a clean finish and fruity overtones

Pedigree 4.5 Marstons

Pedigree. Now with added personality. They haven’t changed the taste. Just how it looks. So welcome to the new-look Pedigree, or “P” as it was first known. Strange that, looking back.

Tasting Notes: Anyway, it has a fascinating aroma, with a palate of biscuit malt, spicy hops and light fruitiness. It was renamed in a staff competition back in George Peard’s day. He was the Head Brewer at the time – that’s him on the clip. Cheers George.

Snecklifter 5.1 Jennings Brewery

An award winning beer, a strong, satisfying ale, wonderfully warming and full of complex flavours, which create an intriguing beer of great character.

Tasting Notes:

Young’s Bitter 3.7 Young & Co.'s Brewery PLC

Young’s Bitter shares the heritage of 175 years of brewing expertise. Today Young’s Bitter one of the fastest growing standard cask beers in England and Wales.

Tasting Notes: A refreshing ale, golden in colour, with a light, dry palate, a fresh, fruity aroma and a long, satisfying bitter finish.
