The Crown Inn dates back to the 1850's when it was a Coaching Inn for travellers and then later became a cobblers and part private dwelling. More recently it has been occupied by Tenanted Licensee’s offering Local Cask Ales from Burton on Trent and Traditional Home Cooked Food.
Our aim is to create a unique and comfortable environment for all offering a home from home feel with good service and a friendly smile.

HPA is an easy-going real ale that brings people together. Our brewers have let locally grown Target and Celeia hops hang out with Maris Otter pale malt to give this understated brew its pale straw colour, citrus hop aroma and a balanced bitter finish.

Tasting Notes: HPA is a truly delightful pale ale. It’s smooth on the palate, and boasts a citrus hop aroma leading to a balanced bitter finish. Locally grown Target and Celeia hops play an important part in making this such a distinctive beer. With Maris Otter pale malt and malted wheat also being used, this is very much a pale ale with all the right ingredients.

Pedigree. Now with added personality. They haven’t changed the taste. Just how it looks. So welcome to the new-look Pedigree, or “P” as it was first known. Strange that, looking back.

Tasting Notes: Anyway, it has a fascinating aroma, with a palate of biscuit malt, spicy hops and light fruitiness. It was renamed in a staff competition back in George Peard’s day. He was the Head Brewer at the time – that’s him on the clip. Cheers George.
