The Giant Inn

A pub serving food in Cerne Abbas.

The Giant Inn, formerly known as the Red Lion, is the last remaining free house in Cerne Abbas.
Serving traditional home cooked food and real ales, it retains a true pub atmosphere.
Originally a coaching inn, it was rebuilt in 1898 after a major fire. The original 15th century fireplace survived.
At the rear there is an authentic skittle alley and secluded pub garden. Come in and enjoy a traditional warm and friendly welcome.

Drink % Brewery
Butcombe Rare Breed 3.8 Butcombe Brewing Co.

Rare Breed is the result of Adam Henson’s dedication to sustainable farming and a passion for characterful, artisinal beer.

Tasting Notes: Using the finest Maris Otter malting barley and aromatic Fuggles hops, delicious, fruity Cascade & Amarillo hops and of course, purest Mendip Spring Water. Rare Breed is a distinctive, clean tasting pale ale with a smooth, citrus twist. A bold stand-out beer that’s one of a kind.

Exmoor Fox 4.2 Exmoor Ales Ltd

As subtle as the creature after which it is named, this is one of Exmoor Brewery’s most popular ales.

Tasting Notes: Four malts are mixed in the mash tun and deliver a graceful and sleek malty mouthfeel. Hops are Goldings, producing a burst of delicate citrus and slight spice on the mid-palate, and Progress, which soothes the finish with a soft bitterness, while more malt comes forth to produce a delicious and lingering bittersweet character.
