The Poachers

A pub with Sky TV in Derbyshire.

Perfectly placed on the main high street in Ilkeston. Ilkeston is a town within the Borough of Erewash, in Derbyshire. The town is close to both Derby and Nottingham and is near to the M1 motorway. Although Ilkeston lies within Derbyshire, it is closer to Nottingham than it is to Derby. The eastern boundary of Ilkeston is only two miles from Nottingham's western edge. Ilkeston is considered by the Office for National Statistics to be part of the Nottingham Urban Area. The Poacher is a popular pub both in the afternoons and in the evenings with a large cask ale following. The town is bustling with bars, pubs and restaurants all offering cask ale. The popularity of cask ale in Ilkeston has meant that The Poacher, with it's prime location has had to be on top of the trends. Hosting local micro breweries such as Castle Rock, Blue Monkey and Dancing Duck, the pub balances it's quirky offering with national favourites such as London Pride, Black Sheep and Spitfire.

Castle Rock Harvest Pale 3.8 Castle Rock Brewery

Described by esteemed beer writer Roger Protz as… “The finest blonde beer I’ve drunk in many a year”

Tasting Notes: Harvest Pale is brewed with a gently-kilned malt, and an aromatic blend of American hops added during the brewing process gives this 3.8% alc pale beer exceptional poise. Its distinct hop flavour leads to a crisp finish. Harvest Pale has firmly established itself as Castle Rock’s Flagship Beer. SIBA National Champion Bitter 2004, Champion Bitter of Britain 2007 and Champion Beer of Britain 2010.

Tribute 4.2 St Austell Brewery

Tribute is an easy drinking pale ale.

Tasting Notes: Fresh, Orange, Grapefruit The zesty orange and grapefruit flavours are balanced with biscuit malt. The beer of South West sport, Tribute has high profile shirt sponsorships with Somerset and Gloucester CCCs as well as close relationships with both Football League clubs Plymouth and Exeter City. Tribute is also the Official Beer of South West Rugby and supports many rugby teams in the region with shirt sponsorships, plus it is the main sponsor of the Cornwall RFU whose teams are the current County Champions and holders of the Bill Beaumont Cup. We were also thrilled in 2015 for Tribute to be the main sponsor of Bristol Balloon Fiesta and in 2016 Tribute will again be a high profile partner of this wonderful event. All told, there is plenty to look forward to for Tribute in the coming year.
