The Red Lion

A pub serving food and a garden in Sapcote.

Two roomed village pub. Only one in the village following the demise of the Basset Arms.
The Red Lion is a Country Inn built in the 1700s with beamed ceilings and open fires. Although the Inn is located in the heart of the country we are only 2 miles away from the A5 with close proximity to M69 (one mile) M1 and M6 and 'so called Middle England' due to the crossing of Watling Street and the Fosse Way, a car park taking up to 35 cars, The Red Lion is well known for its comfortable, freindly atmosphere with recently refurbished bedrooms which are all ensuite with in room tea & coffee, television. We have guests staying with us who work at The National Exhibition Centre, Magna Park, Lutterworth, Coventry and Rugby, We also accommodate divers who visit Stoney Cove (one minite) and both drivers and enthusiasts going to Mallory Park and Bruntingthorpe. We offer a wide and varied Menu to suit all tastes & with an extensive Specials Board with plenty of fish to choose from.

Boondoggle 4.2 Ringwood Brewery Ltd

Boondoggle delivers a hoppy aroma with a citrus punch. This followed by a well-balanced moreish fruity taste. Boondoggles unique character is a result of the use of the finest English Pale Malt, First Gold and Fuggles Hops.

Tasting Notes: Light gold, hoppy, fruit ale

EPA 3.6 Marstons

EPA stands for English Pale Ale. And the stilt walker on the clip is an original hop picker – in this case, Cascade and Styrian hops.

Tasting Notes: They give it the subtle citrus flavours and delicate bitter aftertaste. An easy-drinking, refreshing, light, golden ale which will appeal to both ale and lager drinkers…and the occasional stilt walker.

Pedigree 4.5 Marstons

Pedigree. Now with added personality. They haven’t changed the taste. Just how it looks. So welcome to the new-look Pedigree, or “P” as it was first known. Strange that, looking back.

Tasting Notes: Anyway, it has a fascinating aroma, with a palate of biscuit malt, spicy hops and light fruitiness. It was renamed in a staff competition back in George Peard’s day. He was the Head Brewer at the time – that’s him on the clip. Cheers George.
