The Riverside Inn

A restaurant serving food in Chelmsford.

A beautifully and delicately restored 17th century mill, standing on the River Chelmer, we can assure you a warm welcome and a great choice of freshly cooked food for any occasion. The secluded garden is a lovely, calm area to enjoy the summer away from the bustle of the city overlooking the river. In the winter the pub is an inviting and cosy place where groups or intimate gatherings can enjoy secluded corners amongst the old mill fittings. There are 5 welcoming well appointed bedrooms. Ideally situated 5 minutes from Chelmsford town centre and 8 minutes from Chelmsford train station, yet still only 25 minutes by train from London's Liverpool Street. Chelmsford also provides excellent links to the M25.

Adnams Southwold Bitter 3.7 Adnams

Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late and dry-hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness. Brewed with the finest East Anglian Pale Ale malt barley, sourced locally to the brewery. We use Fuggles hops which we add late in the boil to preserve the herbal flavours of this traditional English hop. We add more Fuggles to each cask so that the flavour of the hops infuses into the beer. It’s a perfect 3.7% abv in cask and 4.1% abv in bottle and can.

London Pride 4.1 Fuller's Brewery

In recent years its popularity has grown to the extent that it is now Britain’s leading premium ale: a welcome fixture in many pubs and off licences around the country, and now winning new friends abroad.

Tasting Notes: Rich, smooth and elegant on the palate, it draws to a clean, satisfying finish with beautifully balanced bitterness.
