The Silver Cup

A child friendly bar serving food with Sky TV and a garden in Harpenden.

Tony,Maya and the team would like to welcome you to The Silver Cup.

Sitting on the idyllic Harpenden Common, The Silver Cup has been serving customers since 1838. The pub's name is presumably taken from a trophy at the Harpenden Races, which started in the 1830s, but were not a regular fixture until 1848, when they were held annually on the Common until 1914.

Great quality pub food
The Silver Cup offers great quality pub food, a full selection of beers, wines and spirits including Bedford brewed cask ales by Charles Wells and a regularly changing guest ale. We're open for lunch and dinner serving locally sourced produce, freshly prepared and cooked to your liking, just as it should be.

Adnams Southwold Bitter 3.7 Adnams

Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late and dry-hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness. Brewed with the finest East Anglian Pale Ale malt barley, sourced locally to the brewery. We use Fuggles hops which we add late in the boil to preserve the herbal flavours of this traditional English hop. We add more Fuggles to each cask so that the flavour of the hops infuses into the beer. It’s a perfect 3.7% abv in cask and 4.1% abv in bottle and can.

Landlord 4.3 Timothy Taylor's Brewery

The drinkers' favourite, a 4.3% classic pale ale with a complex citrus and hoppy aroma

Tasting Notes: A strong classic ale with a golden amber colour. It has a scent of caramel, light fruits and roasted malt hints.
