The Two Brewers at Croydon, a 19th century inn on Gloucester Road, reopened on Tuesday, September 19 following an £20,000 refurbishment by Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame.
Jonathan Neame, the company’s chief executive, was joined by licensees Canice and Ann McAuliffe. Mr Neame presented cheques to two local charities, Bensham Manor School and Brigstock Manor Residential Home.
The pub has been internally redecorated, with new lighting added and carpets replaced with polished wood and Welsh slate flooring. The bar area has been opened up and improvements made to the display behind the bar. Customer toilet facilities have also been refurbished.
The work provided the opportunity to make improvements to the pub’s garden, which had been out of use for a year. Customers can now enjoy a patio garden with new furniture and a barbecue.
Licensee Ann McAuliffe said, “The work has created a more pleasant environment for our customers and we’re delighted to bring our garden back into use. The pub feels totally refreshed by its new look.”
The Two Brewers offers traditional, home cooked foods at lunchtimes.
