Varsity Sunderland is a late licensed bar based on one of the city's liveliest nightspots Green Terrace and is only a short walking distance from the university's main buildings and Bridges shopping centre. Our customers range from city centre workers who want a quick lunch, or a relaxing after work drink with colleagues, to the fun loving students and residents of Sunderland who are always up for a good night out in the city.
We are the perfect venue for our customers to meet up with their friends, whether it be early doors when our music is more low beat and casual, or later on once the atmosphere and music is taken to the next level with our party attitude, funky house, chart and commercial dance music. The venue itself boasts a main down stairs bar which stretches from one side of the pub to the other and a smaller upstairs bar for those people who just want to take time out and chill a little.
Our quality bar food, which is made to order, is served daily so whether you fancy a burger and pint, healthy salad and wine or even just want to share a bucket with friends, with our wide range of choices and offers you are guaranteed not to be let down. Whatever you choose you can enjoy it in our relaxing comfortable surroundings.
As well as being a great place to dine through the day and to party at night, we are extremely passionate about our football, showing all Premiership Sky and Setanta Sports football matches. As well as being home to Sunderland's biggest screen we also have a smaller screen and plasmas throughout the venue, meaning you can see the action from anywhere you are situated.
