The Walnut Tree, named after the big old walnut tree in the garden, is in Loose, a picturesque village on the outskirts of Maidstone where you will find public footpaths for walks past old mill ponds, mills, and the villages that grew up around them. Nearby are plenty of beautiful and historic castles and gardens, including the famous Leeds Castle.
The pub has a comfortable modern country style interior, having recently been refurbished. It has two open fires for a really cosy ambience in winter, surrounded by wooden tables and benches. There is always something to entertain too, with darts, crib, scrabble and other board games, a juke box and fruit machine, and numerous events; live music, regular quizzes, and imaginative theme nights.
Outside there is a large and pretty garden, with a barbecue for summer events and a petanque pitch, and plenty of private parking.
The Walnut Tree is also first pub in Maidstone to receive an “Asset to the Community” accreditation.
