A pub has stood on this corner site in the centre of Ely for several centuries, and behind it's smart cream and red facade the present West End House has many fine period features. Kim and Stephen Baxter took over the licence in the spring of 2003 and run the pub with the active participation of the dogs Murphy and Paddy. Stephen is in charge of the drinks side of the business, and in the comfortable bar, with its feature brick walls, beams, wooden floor and smart country furniture, he dispenses a good variety of cask ales, including Spitfire, Adnams, Flowers IPA and an ever changing guest ales including some local Fenland brews. Kim looks after the food preparation, which comprises a straightforward selection of sandwiches, filled baguettes and some light snacks (food is not available on Sunday).
