Tasting Notes: A traditional stout brewed with a blend of dark malts including lots of chocolate. Complex flavours of coffee, liquorice and cocoa are tempered by using malted oats to smooth out the sharpness. Hopped with a simple bill of English hop varieties to give a delicious bitterness resulting in a classic stout.
Tasting Notes: A low abv pale ale that doesn’t compromise on flavour. A clean malt base lets the citrus and blackberry notes from the classic American hop profile shine through. Easy drinking and very moreish.
Tasting Notes: Designed to drink like an English IPA but with the delicious flavours of American hops. Copper coloured to give enough malt body to support the bitterness this is a well-balanced, full flavoured beer, a traditional take on a modern IPA. Dry hopped to give a fruity finish.
Tasting Notes: A clean pale ale brewed with a mixture of English and American hops; English Goldings for bitterness and a careful blend of American hops for flavour and aroma over a base of Pale Ale malt. Dangerously easy drinking.
This is a traditional porter, brewed with lots of Christmas Spices to give a full bodied, warming beer perfect for long winter nights by the fireside
Tasting Notes:
Columbus is one of the classic high alpha dual purpose hops from the USA and its flavour profile is unmistakably American – resinous, herbal and earthy with gentle citrus notes and a clean, long lasting bitterness with a delicious aroma.
Tasting Notes: A full flavoured, fruity beer with hints of butterscotch, carefully balanced with bitterness from Fuggles, First Gold and Hallertau hops. Winner of the Best Beer in Festival at the Cumbria Food & Drink Festival at Rheged in May 2004. This has become something of a flagship beer having been first brewed by our founder, it still has a loyal following many years later.
A hard hitting, high ABV Double IPA. Insanely bitter with loads of orange peel flavours from huge amounts of American hops, this is a true modern classic style of beer and we think ours stands up to the best of them.
Tasting Notes: A light, zesty beer with a clean bitterness. Brewed with finest pale ale malt, the mash liquor is adjusted to maximise the refreshing qualities of this brew. Finally, the brew is late hopped to give hints of citrus making this a perfect session ale to re-invigorate after a day on the fells.
Tasting Notes: A smooth, straw coloured bitter. Hopped with English varieties including Goldings and Challenger hops to give a mellow bitterness. Brewed using malted oats alongside Maris Otter pale ale malt to give an exceptionally smooth finish to this excellent beer. Featured in Roger Protz’s “100 Beers to Try Before You Die”, this is a classic English golden ale.
A 6.0% ruby ale that won SIBA Gold Medal
This is a refreshing and very sessionable 3.8% blonde beer. The malt bill is designed to make the beer very pale and includes rye malt which gives a delicious dry mouthfeel, enhances the body and lends a slightly spicy edge to the beer.
Tasting Notes: Expect citrus fruit, dank resin and pine notes on the palette with a long bitter finish.
It's a 4.4% ABV session American Pale Ale (APA). It is brewed entirely with American Hops including Columbus, Summit and Azacca; giving an upfront orange citrus flavour and a spicy aroma.
Tasting Notes: The beer drinks easily with a dry finish and a long clean bitterness. The malt base for the beer is a blend of Lager Malt and Maris Otter Pale Ale, producing a very light coloured beer which does not produce a lot of malt flavour while still giving plenty of body.
Tasting Notes: Brewed with a 50/50 blend of pale ale and lager malt to give a lighter beer to appeal to a wide variety of drinkers and to allow the hop flavours to dominate. Generously hopped with both British and American varieties, the predominant flavours are of citrus hops giving a Blonde beer that is inspired by modern pale ales.
Tasting Notes: A true session bitter; largely pale ale malt with just enough crystal malt to round the flavour and add a little colour. A classic combination of British hops provides the bitterness, finished with a hint of aromatic continental hops for a clean finish.
A Smoked Porter, a dark and delicious beer; rich with layers of flavour and a subtle smokiness from German beech smoked malt. Brewed with both English and American hops to give a balanced bitterness to the malty goodness of this beer.
Moreish and easy drinking while also being a beer to take your time over and savour. Initial bitterness gives way to biscuity malt flavours before leaving you with a long, dry, bitter finish with notes of pine and grapefruit.
