White Lion Inn

A bar serving food in Penrith.

Visitors and local people have enjoyed the hospitality of the White Lion since the early 1800s. Many a tale could be told of events that have taken place in all its lifetime, including the time when Wordsworth was in our very bar as news arrived that Nelson had died at Trafalgar. Whether you're taking your walk from coast to coast or simply admiring the local scenery, feel free to pop in for a light lunch or stay for the weekend, we can even provide a packed lunch for you to take on your walk. All are welcome here at The White Lion and we look forward to your visit soon. Why not come down and pay us a visit!

Foster's 3.7 Heineken

Foster's is the ultimate ice-cold refreshment. Its balance of subtle fruitiness and vanilla is ideal for the sweeter-toothed lager lover. The perfect session beer to enjoy with mates.

Tasting Notes: A light-coloured lager style, it presents full malt character with a balanced clean hop bitterness. Combined with a slightly hoppy, but yeasty/malty nose, Foster's lager is a full bodied beer with excellent drinkability.

Guinness Original 4.2 Guinness

Swirling clouds tumble as the storm begins to calm.

Tasting Notes: Unmistakeably GUINNESS®, from the first velvet sip to the last, lingering drop. And every deep-dark satisfying mouthful in between.

Heineken 5.0 Heineken

Brewing beer is a 100% natural process. Heineken beer is made from the purest ingredients.

Tasting Notes: The resin from the female hop flower cones is used to help balance the sweetness of the barley with a refreshing bitterness.

Strongbow 4.5 Heineken

Strongbow gets its distinctive flavour and cut-through refreshment through the unique blends of bittersweet British cider apples from our Herefordshire orchards.

Tasting Notes: The cider is made from a blend of bittersweet cider and culinary apples making it a well-rounded, balanced cider with a good mix of fresh apples and cidery flavour
