An historic pub, The Palace was originally the home of a Leeds timber merchant and dates to around 1741. The Beerhouse Act of 1830 encouraged many private houses to be changed to public houses so we were first recorded as an inn in 1841. Behind the pub is the Aire & Calder Navigation, completed in 1826 and used by former landlord Henry Teal who built and launched boats from here.
