Originally the first inn on the approach from Reading, this is now a typical community local. The guest ale changes weekly and is sometimes LocAle. The pub comprises a single spacious bar with darts alcove, plus a small room for children at the rear. Large TVs are popular for sports events, but muted at other times. Regular quiz on Sunday evenings. Covered wooden benches on the front terrace double-up as a smoking area. No meals, just nibbles.
