Details

The pub is part of the old Co-op. The present building was erected, in 1904, for the Carlisle South End Co-op Society. Designed by T Taylor Scott, and quarried from local stone, this building replaced several other society shops on the same site. Inside, the various departments were arranged around a central arcade. There were also other Co-op premises in Botchergate.

Full flavoured, smooth and mature taste with fruit cake characters , a malty richness and superb hop balance. Tasting Notes: Mahogany in colour and brewed for longer to create a rich malty, and mature flavour.

Gone Fishing Extra Special Bitter is very traditonal in style, even though it is brewed with American hops. Tasting Notes: A deel amber coloured ale, Gone Fishing is fruity and malty - it goes down far too easily for a beer of this strength.

Brewed using a single malt and hopped with a selection of three varieties giving a well-balanced finish. Very pale in appearance because of the Pale Ale Malt used. Tasting Notes:

Sea Fury takes its inspiration from the stormy Atlantic seas that crash into the rugged Cornish coast during the long, dark winter. Tasting Notes: Sea Fury is an exceptional example of the Special Bitter beer style, offering substance and depth of flavour without compromising balance and drinkability. An aroma of inviting roasted and dark berry notes gives way to sumptuous, fruity, malty flavour and a moreish hop finish.
