The Holford arms is a 16th century characterful country 'free house' pub tucked away in the southeast corner of the Cotswolds in the small village of Knockdown on the Gloucestershire / Wiltshire border. Situated on the A433 between Tetbury and Didmarton we are just a stones throw from the world famous Westonbirt Arboretum, a mile or so away from Highgrove and within a couple of mile of the Annual Badminton Horse Trials.
The pub boasts large open fires, original elm beamed ceilings, flag stone floors and a spacious, children friendly, private beer garden, which makes The Holford Arms the perfect place to be whatever the weather. There is always a warm, friendly atmosphere and ambience helping to make each and every customer feel genuinely welcome.
Being a free house, there is a wide range of superb, best of breed, draught ales to be discovered on tap as well as the renowned, locally produced, Sherston cider. In addition, the pub also stocks a great selection of other British and continental beers, lagers and ciders both bottled and on draught. Together with a variety of fine wines and spirits from all over the world there is sure to be a tipple for every taste.
Regular events take place at the pub, which include live music both indoors and outside, which include our annual Blue Grass picking weekend in early July, as well as every friday from 8pm we host our Blue Grass jamming session led by the fabulous 'Knockdown Boys' where if you play please come along and join in. Every year we host our own annual music and cider festival as well as our 'Rockin' all dayer' rock and roll festival. Camping is also available throughout the year in our 8 acre campsite with facilities for caravans, tents and camper vans.
We are open all day everyday from 11.30 except for Monday lunchtimes. The diverse and interesting menu is always based around fresh, locally sourced produce and is revised monthly by the very experienced chef to reflect the seasons. In addition to the weekly menu, The Holford Arms also offers an excellent Sunday roast as well as steak night on a monday, where you can get two 8oz 'Tucks of Sherston' Rib eyes, served with a whole flat mushroom, onion rings, tomato, salad and a choise of chips or dauphinoise potatoes and a bottle our house red for £25
