The Head at Middleton is a charming country inn and restaurant situated on the A683 between Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh. We provide bed & breakfast and self-catering accommodation in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The Head is everything you’d expect an English country pub to be: excellent home-cooked pub food, open fires in winter, a rustic bar with a fine selection of wines, malts, soft drinks and ale, and extensive gardens with seating areas.

Our aim is to give all our customers a traditional Cumbrian welcome. Whether passing through, enjoying our country inn and pub food, or enjoying a break in one of our en-suite hotel rooms, you are assured warm hospitality.

Motorhome guests using our restaurant are welcome to stay overnight on our car park. We welcome walkers, cyclists and bikers and the Head at Middleton is a dog friendly bed and breakfast, pub and hotel. Our garden is a haven for bird watchers, and golfers can enjoy nearby courses at Kirkby Lonsdale, Casterton and Sedbergh. En-suite family bedroom 2 available £65/night for 2 people

Our two en-suite family rooms are each furnished with a double bed and two singles with a dividing partition. Facilities include a remote control television (Freeview) and tea/coffee making facilities. All duvets, towels and linen are provided. In the en-suite bathroom you’ll also find constant hot water, power-shower and complimentary toiletries. Full English breakfast is included within the room rate and is served in the hotel between 7am and 9am.

Self-catering (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen) 1 available £350/wk for 2 people

Our self-catering rooms are furnished with a double bed, comfortable sofa, desk and dining table, and have a maximum occupancy of two. The kitchen is well equipped with a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and double-sink. Water is collected from our natural spring and treated on-site to provide excellent quality and 100% Cumbrian drinking water. In the bathroom you’ll find a powerful shower, wash basin, toilet and complimentary toiletries. In the hallway there is also a radiator and line for drying wet clothes. Our residents have exclusive use of an adjoining courtyard garden and are able to access their rooms directly without needing to go through the inn. An extensive menu of homemade favourites, tasty grills and daily specials is also available in the restaurant.
